Course Description
This course covers the training requirements of the Cal/OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard. Specific material covered includes: Supervisor and employee responsibilities under the UCSB Respiratory Protection Program; Why a respirator is necessary and how improper fit, usage, or maintenance can compromise the protective effect of the respirator; Proper respirator selection and cartridge type; The limitations and capabilities of a respirator; How to use a respirator effectively in emergency situations, including situations in which the respirator malfunctions; How to inspect, don, doff, use, and check the seals of a respirator; Procedures for maintenance and storage of a respirator; How to recognize medical signs and symptoms that may limit or prevent the effective use of respirators; The requirements of the Cal/OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard
